HOW TO TURN YOUR THOUGHTS INTO POWER TO GET WEALTH
Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, is a very familiar name. Let me start with a
quote from him, “The process of making a
lot of money is a mental process more than a physical process.” How does
that sound to you? Convincing?
Half-truth? Or what? If you can catch the import of that quote then
you’ll know that your thoughts play a vital role in your acquisition of wealth.
Interestingly,
one of the things God promised us is not wealth, but the power to get wealth. Indeed, the power to get wealth is all
about the role or part we must play (spiritually,
mentally, emotionally, and physically) in the acquisition of wealth. God
has His part, we have our part.
The
good news is that each of us has abundance of thoughts every day. I read on the
blog, Message to Eagle.com that, “It has
been estimated that an average brain has anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 thoughts
a day and 70 percent of them are believed to be negative.” Some authorities even
estimate that an average mind produces about 70,000 thoughts each day. Most of these
thoughts may be taking place at the unconscious level, meaning that we may not be
aware of them. They are habits of thought,
flowing in streams, day in day out.
Where
many miss it is that they think that God will bring them raw cash. They fast
and pray for money. God will not rain down wealth, or pour raw currencies from
Heaven into our pockets or into our bank accounts. No matter how you pray for
money, you’ll not wake up to see your ceiling pop open and dollars, pounds, or
naira pour into your bedroom. If God does that, He would be encouraging laziness
and irresponsibility. That’s why He doesn’t do it.
As
a matter of fact, wealth doesn’t answer to prayers, it answers to known principles of sowing or investing and reaping.
This is very natural. A farmer who wants a good harvest goes to the farm, tills
the land, and plants cassava, yam, corn, or whatever else he or she wants. The
planted seeds will go through the natural process of germination and growth
into maturity. While the seeds are in the ground, God then plays His part of
making them to germinate, grow and multiply. We plant but God gives the increase.
At maturity, the farmer then goes to harvest it.
No
matter how the farmer prays, if he doesn’t plant seeds, water, remove the
weeds, and so on, he can’t expect harvest. Those processes of tilling the
ground, selecting the seed, planting the seed, watering, and weeding, and
harvesting entail not only physical activities but
also mental and emotional activities.
In
the building of wealth, mental engagement appears to play a far more vital role
than physical engagement. All wealth
starts in the mind, in your thoughts. This is why some authors have defined
wealth as “a person’s capacity to think.”
We are all rich in thoughts, but how do we channel them into the power to get wealth?
Turning Thoughts Into Power to Create
Wealth
(i)
Be clear on your life’s vision. Your
vision, that is, the unfolding of God’s plan and purpose for your life, is the
pivot of your existence. It is the fulcrum around which your life turns. Your
vision points the direction you should go, what matters most to you, where to
expend most of your energy, and so on. All these crystallize and galvanize your
thoughts into awesome energy. Do well to write
down your vision statement today if you have not done so already.
(ii)
Meditate and focus your thoughts on what
you specifically want. Meditation slows down the stream of thoughts and makes
concentration easier. When we focus our thoughts, they generate far more power
that can find expression in creativity as definite business or investment goals,
innovative money ideas, strategic solutions, etc.
(iii)
Use thought power to create wealth opportunities:
Interestingly, our thoughts behave like
magnets. In fact, they are magnetic in nature. If human thoughts are
examined through a computer, they appear as waves. That means that our thoughts
go out of our minds in waves. They produce magnetic fields, thus having drawing
power. Meaning that when we dwell on positive thoughts of what we want, they will
draw good opportunities we can take advantage of to us and also draw us to
those opportunities. Besides, they also draw to us good people that can help us
as well as draw us to the good people that can be of assistance to us in our
business and career.
So
our thoughts combine with other forces of destiny to empower us to create our
wealth realities. This is why we must be very careful what we think. Whether we
are aware of them or not, our thoughts are
the choices we make daily. They play a strategic role in the creation of our
financial realities.
