Success is every body’s birthright. But champions thrive on secrets. Knowing what others don’t know and doing what others don’t do is what gives individuals and corporate bodies an edge over the rest.

Without argument, Coca-Cola Company is the world’s largest soft drink maker. What has given this company a clear edge over other soft-drink companies is that for about 132 years now, it has been able to heavily guard Coke’s secret recipe. This is a list of “secret” ingredients known as 7X (herbal extracts) which give the drink its unique flavor. The “secret” is said to be kept in a bank vault.

In 2011 the company celebrated its 125th anniversary. In that year, “This American Life,” a weekly radio show said that it had uncovered Coke’s hidden formula. Reuters, New York, reported the company’s quick reaction thus, “Coca-Cola said on Tuesday that its flagship cola recipe is still secret after nearly 125 years….” From 1886 till date the company still jealously guards this trade secret.

There is one simple, easy, very important, results-producing, secret that the most successful people always keep, in all fields of human endeavour including business, academics, investment, communications, politics, religion, commerce, manufacturing, services, etc. This secret will empower you to accomplish incredible results.

The secret is in this statement that was made by Dr. Mike Murdock, “The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routines.”  The secret formula for your success, no matter what size you dream, is buried right inside your daily routines, what you think and do per second per second, per minute per minute, per hour per hour, and per day per day.

Where many people are trapped is in what I call the illusion of time in the future. They think they’ll do it tomorrow. They’ll do the correspondence next week. They’ll begin to prepare for the examination in three months because it is four months away. They’ll start the business in the next two years when the business idea must have been completely clear. People always wait for the time they’ll take the big actions, the “wholesale actions,” instead of the “retail actions.”

To my mind, the future is a mystery which always disguises itself as tomorrow when in actual fact, it always comes as today, in fact, as now. Do you know that the past, today, and tomorrow are made up of the same material, namely, seconds, minutes, hours, and days? This may be the meaning Stowe conveys when he says that “The past, the present, and the future are really one…they are today.”

So when we make good use of each moment, each hour and each day, taking actions that take us nearer to our purpose and goals, then we are certainly engaging a powerful secret that will culminate in our success.

The best kept secret of the most successful is the effective use of time. We can make more money, get more Facebook friends, get more children, acquire more education, buy more cars, build more houses, and even eat more food, but we can’t make more time.

Time is money, time is success, time is life. Those who master the effective use of time master life. Time robbers are life wasters. Every destiny is at the mercy of time. So make every time positively engaging. Don’t ever think that you’ll have more time tomorrow than you have today to do what you want to do.

Parkinson’s law states that “Work expands to fill the time available.” If you have a sense of urgency, you can always produce far more results within the same space of time than would have been possible ordinarily. Because you can’t increase time, redeem the one that is available. This is the well-kept secret of those who want to make a mark in life.
